Secure Building Solutions successfully completed this project at the rear of the school for Our Lady Star of the Sea in Miranda. The project presented unique challenges due to the schools minimal access, with only one entry point available for all excavation work and subbase preparation.
Scope of works included the installation of a new artificial sport field area, the creation of a sensory garden, the construction of acoustic fencing, and extensive stormwater upgrades.
A special feature of this project was the sensory garden. This element of the project involved a D&C approach to construct a space that would stimulate the senses and provide a therapeutic environment. Secure Building Solutions collaborated closely with the client and architect to understand their vision and the requirements for the sensory garden. The project team employed innovative landscaping techniques, incorporating a variety of plants, textures, color’s and sensory elements to create a multi-sensory experience that caters to the needs of the users.
Additionally, extensive stormwater upgrades were carried out to enhance the drainage systems and manager water flow effectively. Working closely with the stormwater engineer, the team were able to demonstrate their technical ability in problem solving, attention to detail and effective communication techniques to ensure that all project stakeholders were happy with the end result.
Overall, the successful completion of these works by the team resulted in a n improved environment that promotes active play, sensory exploration, noise reduction & effective stormwater management. The projects successful outcomes contribute to enhancing the overall experience and functionality of the site, benefiting both the school and the neighboring community.
